Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is an international airport located 12 km northwest of Gdansk and not far from city centers of Tricity metropolitan arena (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia).

With over 4.9 million passengers annually, it is the 3rd largest airport in Poland in terms of passenger traffic.

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa is a hub for Ryanair and Wizz Air and it has two terminals and a single runway.

How to get from Gdańsk Airport to Gdańsk 

Public Bus

Public bus transportation provides two lines which operate during the day and one night line.

  • Line 210 – connects Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and city center
    From 4:51 to 22:19 → check timetable
  • Line 110 – connects Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and railway station Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz
    – From 5:05 to 22:46 →  check timetable
  • Night line N3 – connects Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport and railway station Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz
    – From 23:36 to 4:36; buses go every one hour →  check timetable

A single ticket for all buses during the day costs 3,20 PLN (0.75 €), while for night lines it costs 4,20 PLN (0.98 €). Also, you can buy 60/90 min ticket and a 24-hour ticket for multiple rides.

Tickets can be bought from the ticket machines, numerous kiosks situated in the city or directly from bus drivers.

Train

Trains run regularly (approximately every 15 minutes) between the airport’s own station and Gdansk Glowny although a change may be required at Gdansk Wrzeszcz.

You can reach the platforms, where you will find ticket machines, by taking the escalator to the left as you leave the baggage hall. The ticket price is 3.80 PLN (0.9 €).

Taxi service

Airport taxis can be easily spotted since they have an “19686” sticker on the side. An average taxi fare to Gdansk city center will cost you around 50 PLN (11.75 €) (Note: prices during Sunday, holidays and night will cost you about 72 PLN (17 €))

Transfer

Private door-to-door transfers are great alternative to taxis, in case you don’t want to use public transportation. They are a bit more expensive than taxis with prices around 89 PLN (21.36 €).

Rent a car at Gdańsk Airport

Renting a car is a great idea if you are more of an adventurer and prefer to explore on your own. Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport has 9 different car rental offices like Budget, Europcar, Hertz etc.

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No it won’t be a problem since the airport is very well connected with the city. Throughout the day you have regular bus lines 210 and 110 and trains and during the night there is line N3. And taxis and transfers are, of course, always at your service.

I have an early morning departure from the airport, are there any airport hotels I can stay at?

Of course, the closest is Hampton by Hilton Gdansk Airport (3*) which is located just 200m away from Terminal 2. Also, only 2 minutes down the road from airport is Hotel Faros (3*)

I would like to visit Gdańsk in between flights. Is that possible?

The city center is only 16 km from the airport and there are many options of getting there, and depending by the travel method it will take you around 20 minutes. There is no luggage storage at the airport, but you’ll find one at the main railway station.

Can I exchange money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, you can exchange your money at Interchange office located at the main hall of  airport, or withdraw money from several ATMs throughout the airport. Bear in mind that the official currency in Poland are Polish zloty (PLN) and no other currency is accepted, so it would be good to exchange some money before the flight.
