Jurassic World Dominion Filming Locations
The third instalment of Jurassic World and the sixth of the overall Jurassic Park franchise releases in the summer of 2022. The movie will hit the silver screen nearly 30 years after Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park premiere in cinemas. Ashcroft, British Columbia
This village in British Columbia has both interesting history and picturesque sceneries. Interestingly, two brothers founded the city during the Cariboo Gold Rush after finding that their search for gold would be fruitless. Instead, they founded the village and worked in the trade. Nowadays, this picturesque village is a beloved destination for hiking and various winter sports. Also, the village museum displays the history of Ashcroft for all those eager to learn more about it.
Bridge Studios, British Columbia
This studio in Vancouver, the very heart of British Columbia, is a frequent destination for many film crews. It has 12 stages with an additional Baby Stage, as well as a cafeteria building within the complex. Furthermore, many well-known TV series and movies used the Bridge Studios’ stages to build their sets. Among the TV series that stands out The Good Doctor. Out of the movies A Dog’s Journey, Everything, Everything and Wonder stand out, while Descendants 2 is a popular TV movie filmed at Bridge Studios.
Merrit, British Columbia
Merrit is a city in Nicola Valley, at the point where Nicola and Coldwater meet. The city has seven green parks with playgrounds, and they are a great place for both adults and children to get away from the hustle of the city streets. Furthermore, one of the interesting locations in the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre. Also, it has an interesting coat of arms: green and gold with figures of the sun, coyote and lynx. Previously, Merrit was the filming location of The Sweet Hereafter and The Pledge.
Malta Filming Locations
This island in the Mediterranean Sea is not only famous for the beautiful archipelago that surrounds it, but also for its rich history and beauty. The influence of Catarghians and Greeks from ancient times is still visible in its architecture. With three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it is no wonder that it is frequented as a filming location.
Birgu (Vittoriosa)
Known also under its Italian name – Vittoriosa – Birgu served as a backdrop for several blockbuster films. Of course, it is not difficult to see why it attracted the Jurassic World Dominion crew: the ancient streets, the stunning fortifications and the beautiful turquoise sea that surrounds the city are very cinematic. Furthermore, the city streets are as charming as they are full of history. Undoubtedly, Birgu is equally a fantastic filming location and a beloved travel destination.
Mellieha
Mellieha village is a beloved tourist destination, well-known for its soft sandy beaches and blue sea. Famously, the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. Thus, there are thousands of years old remains found in the Mellieha area. Some of the most famous historical sites are The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha and The Parish Church of Mellieha. Furthermore, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay is beloved for its beautiful scenery and soft beaches.
Valletta
The pearl of Malta is undoubtedly its capital city, Valletta. Founded in the 16th century by the Knights of Saint John, Valletta is a fortified city with various monuments and charming architecture. In fact, it holds the title of the city with the most monuments per square – with a total of 320 of them across the city! Some of the locations that stand out are the city fortifications, the Megalithic Temples of Malta, as well as many baroque palaces.
Pembroke
The town is a remnant and heritage of the British presence on Malta. Named after the Earl of Pembroke, it was founded by the knights of the Order of Saint John. Furthermore, Pembroke is known for its medieval watchtowers and fortifications. Interestingly, the latter was built when the British used the location as their military base. However, the town hasn’t focused on developing its tourism. Rather, it prides itself in its many schools.
USA Filming Locations
The US is the home of the largest movie industry in the world. Its varying landscapes and locations stretching throughout the 51 states make it an ideal and frequent filming destination for domestic filmmakers. Of course, Jurassic World Dominion is no exception.
Atlanta, Georgia
The capital of Georgia was founded in 1837, at the end of the Western & Atlantic railroad. People sometimes also call it The City in a Forest or the City of Trees. Furthermore, the city makes the heart of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The city lies at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains, near the Mississippi River. Of course, there are many things to see and do, like visiting museums and art centers. Undoubtedly some of the most famous events taking place in Atlanta is the Atlanta Jazz Festival.
Oahu, Hawaii
The third-largest island of the Hawaii Islands is also the most populated. Oahu owes this to the fact that Honolulu, the capital of the Hawai’i State, lies on its southern shore. Naturally, Oahu is a beautiful island rich with breathtaking views and beautiful culture. Oahu beaches are famous surfing destinations, and the high ocean waves are ideal for surfing enthusiasts. Also, Oahu is known for the stunning Leahi – a volcanic crater above the famous Waikiki beach.
UK Filming Locations
Along with the US and Canada, the UK is one of the most frequented filming destinations. Its many studios offer flexibility, and the cities and landscapes make beautiful backdrops for various movies.
Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire
One of the biggest filming studios in the UK served as a set for many major movies since it first opened its doors. Many major motion pictures, TV series and indie projects used the Pinewood Studios’ stages. Some of the most famous movies and TV series of the past decade were filmed here. Namely, No Time to Die, The Rise of Skywalker, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Additionally, series 4 of Netflix’s Sherlock also used Pinewood Studios to shoot some scenes.
