Bergen Airport Bus
Bergen Airport (BGO) is an international airport located in the small village of Flesland, approximately 17 kilometers (~11 miles) south from Bergen. It is the second busiest airport in Norway with more than 6 million passengers (2018). The largest airlines operating at the airport are Scandinavian Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Widerøe.
How to get from Bergen Airport to Bergen
Airport Shuttle
There is a direct shuttle bus connection operated by Flybussen company that takes you from Bergen Airport to Bergen Bus Station and two other stations in the city center, Festplassen and Bryggen. The bus departs every 10 minutes during the busiest hours and the journey takes around 20 minutes.
Public transport
To get from Bergen Airport to the center of Bergen you can choose between two options – local bus or a light rail.
Local bus – The bus line 23 takes you from the airport to Loddefjord, Storavatnet and Sotra. If you want to get to the center of Bergen, you need to change a bus at Dolvik Terminal. The bus stop at the airport can be found just outside of the Terminal 1. You can purchase your tickets on board, from the bus driver.
Light Rail (Bybanen) – Since 2017, the light rail takes passengers all the way from the airport to Bergen. The stop can be found just outside of the terminal. You can purchase your tickets via app, at the light rail stop or at the ticket machines (at the airport). This option is the cheapest but the journey lasts a bit longer (~45 min).
Taxi
If you don’t like using the public transport, the quickest way to get from the airport is to take a taxi. Outside of the terminal building you will see taxi stops and several taxi companies that operate at the airport 24/7. The regular price to get from the airport to the center of Bergen shouldn’t go much over 30€, but always agree upon the price before entering the taxi. Have in mind that the prices are bigger during the peak hours and doubled during the night. If the traffic is normal, the journey should last around 20 minutes.
Transfer
If you don’t like using the public transport and hesitate to take a taxi, consider booking a private transfer which will wait for you on the airport and take you to your destination. The transfer company will send a professional driver to pick you up. You can even pre-order a child safety seat if you’re travelling with a child.

For those who would prefer to reach the city and explore the area on their own, the best option is to rent a car directly at the airport. There are several car hire companies that operate at the Bergen Airport such as Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Budget, Hertz etc.Compare their rental prices and save your time by booking your car online.
Renting a bus at Bergen Airport
Larger groups of passengers should consider renting a bus at the airport. However, it is recommended to book it online, so the bus rental companies have enough time to advise you on the meeting point and all other information.
