Billund Airport Bus
Billund Airport (BLL) is an airport in the western part of Denmark, located 2 kilometers northeast of Billund, near Legoland, the largest tourist attraction beside Copenhagen. It serves as one of the country’s busiest air cargo centers, as well as a charter airline destination. It has flights with a direct connections to Billund from more than 50 European destinations, and the airport is reachable from more than 530 destinations across the world. It serves as a hub for SUN-AIR company, and, in average, handles 2.7 million passengers annually.
How to get from Billund Airport to Billund
Local Bus
Almost all of the bus routes that depart from the airport make a stop in Billund. All buses depart in front of the terminal and the stop in Billund is called “Billund Centret”.
- Some of the bus lines you can take are 912X, 43, 143 and 179. The ride takes approximately 9 minutes and the ticket for one person costs 22 DKK (~3 €).
- In case you want to get to Legoland you can take one of the buses leaving in the direction of Billund, too. The bus stops for Legoland are called ‘’Legoland/Lalandia’’ which is the entrance to Legoland, and ‘’Billund, Åstvej v hotellet’’ which is the hotel. The travel time is a bit shorter and the price of the ticket is the same.
- If you would like to visit some other city in the proximity of the airport, there is a good connection with bus lines. Vejle is the largest city close to the airport, you can take a bus line 43 or 143 to get there. The journey takes 30 or 45 minutes, depending on the line, and the price ticket is 60 DKK (~8 €) per person.
NOTE: During the summer period, there is an option of free Billund City Shuttle which lets you explore the area. The shuttle bus runs between Billund Airport, the main attractions, places of accommodation and city center. The bus runs on regular basis, from Monday to Sunday.
Train
There is no railway which connects the airport and the city center, yet. The rail link is expected to be ready by 2020 and include stations at Billund Airport and near Legoland. Despite of that, the airport is well connected by buses with the train stations in Vejle, Give, Esbjerg, Skanderborg and Aarhus from where you can continue your journey.
Taxi service
If you prefer a more comfortable type of transfer, consider taking a taxi. There is a great number of taxi companies that are available at the airport at a taxistand. They are available 24/7, and the approximate price to the Billund city center is 150 DKK (~20 €).
Transfer
If you don’t like using the public transport and hesitate to take a taxi, consider booking a private transfer which will wait for you on the airport and take you to your destination.
