Helsinki Airport Bus
Helsinki Airport (HEL), also known as Helsinki Vantaa Airport is the main international airport serving Helsinki and the region. It is situated in the city of Vantaa, approximately 17 kilometres north of Helsinki. The airport is operated by Finavia and it is one of the leading airports in Northern Europe. As for the passengers, Helsinki Airport handled more than 17 million of them in 2016 and the number is still rising.
How to get from Helsinki Airport to Helsinki
Airport bus
The city centre of Helsinki can be easily reached by regular Finnair Citybus operated by Pohjolan Liikenne:
- Buses depart from Terminal 2 (and stop by Terminal 1) and arrive at Eliel Square (bus and railway station)
- Buses run every 20-30 minutes from 05:30 to 00:45 and the trip usually takes around 35 minutes
- The price of a single adult ticket is around 6€ and you can buy them online, from a bus driver or at the bus station
Local bus
Another possibility is taking a local bus, line 615, which connects Helsinki Airport with the main railway station (fin. Helsingin päärautatieasema) and it also stops in Kartanonkoski:
- Buses depart from Terminal 2 every half hour, 24h a day and it takes 45 minutes to reach Helsinki.
- Prices of tickets vary because it depends whether you buy it from driver or from a vending machine, or if it is a daily or a night ticket. Here you can see the list of all prices. Regular single ticket bought from a driver costs around 3€.
Line 617 – connects Helsinki Airport with Hakaniemi market and it operates only during the weekdays, during the rush hours.
Train
There are two train lines from Helsinki Airport which lead to the central railway station:
- Line P – stops at Tikkurila railway station, departs every 10 mins from 04:18 to 01:18.
- Line I – stops at Huopalahti railway station, every 10-15 mins from 04:36 to 00:36
- Tickets can be bought online, from vending machines on the platform or in train.

Taxi services
Some of the official taxis, like Kiwi, offer direct transport to the central station in Helsinki for 45€. So if you are traveling in 3 or 4, we could say this option is not too expensive.

Another way to travel from Helsinki Airport is with a private, door-to-door transfer directly to your accommodation in the city. You can pre-book a transfer for a hassle-free experience, professional driver will wait for you at the airport and take you to your destination.
Renting a car at Helsinki airport
Renting a car is a great idea if you plan to visit other cities, or if you want to explore Helsinki yourself. You’ll find several rental companies at the airport, such as Hertz, Avis and Budget, or better, book your car online for a carefree journey.
Renting a bus at Helsinki airport
Should you come in a group of 10 or more, then check out offers of bus rental companies. It is more practical and convenient, but have in mind that renting needs to be done in advance, so that the bus companies have enough time to organize the meeting point, and all other details.

Not at all, buses and trains are running every day 0-24, so you won’t have any problems getting to the city. The cheapest option, however, is taking a local bus nr. 615 which will cost you 3.20€ if you buy the ticket from driver.
Of course, it will take you 30-40 minutes to get to the city, depending on which means of transport you pick. And since buses and trains run to and from the airport all day every 10 to 20 minutes, there is no worry of missing your next flight. And if you don’t know where to leave your luggage, there are lockers available at the airport for 5/6€ a day.
Yes, you can exchange your money at one of 7 exchange offices located at the airport, or withdraw money from Otto ATMs at Terminal 2. Still, it is advisable to have at least some euros on you since the currency rate may vary.

Good afternoon, I am arriving in Vantaa Airport on 1st November 2019 at 11.40am and have a bus booked from Kamppi Shopping Centre, Narinka1, Matkahoulto underground terminal to take me to Kotka.
How do I get to this terminal please?

You will need to catch the bus line I from the airport bus stop (500m from airport terminal) and get off at Helsinki Central Station. The Kamppi Shopping Centre is only 500m away from the Central Station.

local buses depart to and from Terminal 2 every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Trains also depart from early morning hours till late evening hours, suitable to your needs.

I am planning on visiting Helsinki at the end of the year and as I will be flying via Amsterdam from Cork with Finnair and my flight arrives at 22:35 hours so I am asking can I get a bus from the airport to Central Station and how much would a ticket cost for 2 adult

there shouldn’t be any problem in catching a shuttle bus to the central station as the buses depart till 00:45.
The price of the tickets for two adults would be around 12 euros.
You can also use the local bus line 615, the price for two adults would be 6 euros.

Hi I will coming 7th November to Vantaa Airport Helsinky at 16:05and needing going to Linja autoasema Kamppi Helsinky.. And from there I Will have bus to Jamijarvi at 17:00.
