Marseilles Airport FAQs

I arrive late at the airport. Will it be a problem for me to get to the city?

No, the shuttle bus is very frequent (every 30 minutes), but in case you missed them all, you can always call an official airport taxi which operates 24/7. During the night, the price for the ride to Marseille is 60€.

I would like to spend one day in Marseille in between flights. Is that possible?

Yes, of course. The best way to do so is to take the shuttle bus which takes you directly from the airport to the city centre (St. Charles train station) and it is the most convenient way of transportation. If you don’t want to carry your luggage with you all day, simply leave it in the luggage storage at the airport for the price of 15€ a day. The storage is located at the terminal 1, right before the security area.

I am continuing my journey outside Marseille. Are there any direct lines from the airport to other cities?

Of course. There is a wide range of direct lines to other cities, such as Nice, Toulon, Saint Tropez, Cannes and others. You can check the timetable for each city on the official website of Marseille Airport, or you can check the most popular bus routes at getbybus.com like e.g. Marseilles to Cannes, Marseilles to Montpellier.

Can I exchange the money at the airport to pay for my transfer?

Yes, there are several exchange offices and ATMs at the airport, working 24/7, but it would be better to exchange the money before the trip and have some euros on you since the rate will be a lot higher on the spot and no currency other than euro is accepted.

hi arriving at Marseille airport on the 14th July. I would like to take the shuttle bus to the train station in Marseille.
    Should I book in advance
Is it easy to find the bus station from the airport
When I arrive at station will there be taxis to take us to our hotel( Hotel Dieu)
What’s the likely cost of taxi from station to hotel
    Thanks

    • Melani   •     Author

      Dear Helen,

You can either book the ticket for shuttle online or buy it directly at the airport. The shuttle bus will take You to Marseille Gare Saint-Charles (train station). Generally, there should be taxis waiting in front of the station. Your accommodation is around 2 kilometres from the station so I assume it should not cost more than €10. In any case, please check the price with the driver before getting in the taxi to avoid being overpriced.

      Best regards!

Flying in to Marseille 7/13and need to get to Aix and flying out Monday 7/16. Ant tips would be appreciated!

    • Melani   •     Author

      Dear Angie,

You can either go to Aix-En-Provence – Beauvall (one of Aix’s districts but it’s a bit outside the city centre) directly from Marseille Airport by LER17. Or You can combine Ouibus shuttle to Marseille train station (Gare Routière Saint-Charles) and then from Marseille to Aix-En-Provence.

      Best regards!

Hi, I plan to arrive in Marseille Provence and take the free shuttle to Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille-Provence TER (Airport) trainstation. From there take the train to Toulon. Do you recommend this option? Is there a schedule available for this shuttle? Why is this option not mentioned on this site?

    • Melani   •     Author

      Dear Michel,

It’s true, there is a free shuttle bus to Vitrolles train station but we didn’t put it in the blog post because there’s no regular schedule for this shuttle. The shuttle departures from Marseille Airport are in accordance with trains passing through Vitrolles. You can take a risk and opt for Vitrolles but I would recommend to go to the main train station in Marseille because it has more departures and schedules.

      Best regards!

is it easy to get a bus/coach from the Airport to the Cruise Terminal? Any help/comments would be great thanks

    • Melani   •     Author

      Dear Shirley,

There is no direct line from the airport to the cruise port. What I suggest is to take a shuttle to the central station (St Charles) and then take a taxi (it should not cost more than €10) or take a metro but you’ll need to transfer once.

      Best regards!
