Poznań–Ławica Henryk Wieniawski Airport airport is the oldest one in Poland, built back in 1913. It is located 5 kilometers away from Poznań city center, being the seventh Polish airport based on the number of passengers. In 2017, it handled more than 1.8 million passengers. The airport is mainly used by Ryanair and Wizz Air. However, there are several ways to get to and from the airport.
How to get from Poznan Airport to Poznan
Local bus
The airport and the center of Poznań are well connected via public transport. The bus stop can be found right in front of the passenger terminal and the other one just 200 south of from it. There are three lines operating this route, 59, 48 and a night line 242.
- Bus line 59 operates from 05:00 till 00:00 and the last stop is called ‘Poznań Główny’ which is located right in front of the main railway station, The station which is the nearest to the center is called ‘Rondo Kaponiera’. Buses run every 15-20 minutes, the journey lasts around 20 minutes, check the schedule.
- The night line 242 operates nearly the same route as the line 59, but with the last stop being ‘Rondo Kaponiera’. It starts from 23:30 till 04:00, check the schedule.
- Bus line 49 also leads to center but stops 200 meters away from the airport, check the schedule.
Regarding the tickets, they can be bought at the airport and every station but also from the bus driver or the ticket machine in the bus. The ticket allows you to travel for 40 minutes and it costs 4,60 PLN (1 €).
- NOTE: If you’re staying in Poznań for a day or more, there are several public transport ticket options that will help you save some money. The ticket for 24 hours costs 13,60 PLN, for 48 hours costs 21,00 PLN, for 72 hours costs 27,00 PLN, and for 7 days it costs 47,00 PLN. Also, children and seniors can travel for free.
Taxi service
All those who don’t like the crowded public transport and prefer to get around in a more cozy way, should consider taking a taxi. Right in front of the arrival hall you will find a 24/7 taxi stand, it will cost you around 40 PLN (10 €) to get to the center of Poznań. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes.

However, the city center being only 15-20 minutes away by any means of transport gives you an opportunity to book the best option you look for even in the city center.
