Santiago Airport – IATA Code – SCL

~ 24.5 million passengers

Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, as it is fully named, is an airport serving Santiago, the capital and the largest city in Chile. It is the country’s busiest airport that handles nearly 25 million passengers annually. The airport serves as a hub for LATAM, Sky Airline and a low-cost carrier JetSmart. Besides the flights to other countries of South America, the airport offers connections to several destinations in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Santiago airport is also a good choice if travelling to Valparaiso, San Antonio or San Felipe. The airport is located 15 km from Santiago downtown which can be easily reached by bus. There are two companies operating the route, as well as to some other nearby destinations. Besides buses, taxis and private transfers are an option as well. 

Calama Airport – IATA Code – CJC

~ 2.3 million passengers

El Loa Airport, as it is commonly known, serves the city of Calama, the capital of El Loa province. Being one of the largest and busiest airports in Chile, it handles over 2 million passengers per year. Airlines operating the airport include JetSmart, LATAM and Sky Airline. Calama Airport is a good choice if planning to visit some of Chile’s nature reserves, as well as the famous Atacama desert. City of San Pedro de Atacama is only an hour away and it can be reached by bus. Getting to Calama city center can also be done by bus, as well as a taxi and a private transfer.  

Antofagasta Airport – IATA Code – ANF

~ 2 million passengers

Antofagasta Airport or fully Andrés Sabella Gálvez International Airport serves Antofagasta city and its region. With more than 2 million passengers handled each year, the airport is one of the busiest in the country. Among the main airlines operating the airport are JetSmart, LATAM and Sky Airline. Situated on the coast, the airport is a good choice if visiting Chile’s smaller coastal resorts such as Mejillones or Hornito. The distance between the airport and the city center of Antofagasta is only 10 km. Therefore, passengers can use either taxis or private transfers in order to cross that distance. 

Puerto Montt Airport – IATA Code – PMC

~ 2 million passengers

Puerto Montt or El Tepual Airport is an international airport serving the port city of Puerto Montt, a popular tourist area. The airlines operating the airport are JetSmart, LATAM Chile and Sky Airline, of which all of them offer domestic flights. Each year, the airport handles around 2 million passengers. Puerto Montt is located only about 16 km from the airport. Passengers can reach the city by bus, taxi or a private transfer within 30 minutes. Besides the Puerto Montt region, the airport is also an important gateway to the southern region Patagonia, shared with Argentina. 

Concepcion Airport – IATA Code – CCP

~ 1.5 million passengers

Carriel Sur International Airport, as it is officially known, is located in Talcahuano and serves the city of Concepcion. The airport also serves as the main alternative to Santiago Airport. Being one of the largest airports in Mexico, it handles around 1.5 million passengers each year. Airlines operating the airport include JetSmart, LATAM and Sky Airline, of which all cover South America. According to travellers, the airport is among the top-rated airports in the world. In order to get to Concepcion downtown, passengers can choose between a public bus line, a taxi or a private transfer. The airport is located only 8 km from the city. Other nearby destinations include Talcahuano downtown, San Pedro de la Paz and Coronel.

Iquique Airport – IATA Code – IQQ

~ 1.5 million passengers

Diego Aracena International Airport or simply Iquique Airport is located on the Pacific coast and serves the city of Iquique. Each year, the airport handles around 1.5 million passengers. The airlines operating the airport offer connections to the rest of South America. Among the largest carriers are LATAM, Sky Airlines and a low-cost carrier JetSmart. The airport is located almost 50 km south of Iquique which is a 30-minute ride by either bus, taxi or a private transfer. Adventure seekers can easily reach one of the several nature reserves in the closer area around. 

Punta Arenas Airport – IATA Code – PUQ

~ 1.3 million passengers

Presidente Carlos Ibáñez del Campo International Airport, as it is fully named, serves the city of Punta Arenas, in the region of Patagonia. The airport handles mostly regional flights and handles more than a million passengers each year. Airlines operating the airport include Aerovias DAP, LATAM, Sky Airline and a low-cost JetSmart. The airport is located around 20 km from the city. Therefore, passengers can choose between a mini-bus, taxi or a private transfer to get to the city. La Serena Airport – IATA Code – LSC

~ 1 million passenger

La Serena Airport, also known as La Florida Airport, serves the coastal city of La Serena. Every year, the airport handles over a million passengers. Its main airlines include JetSmart, LATAM Chile and Sky Airline. All of the airlines offer domestic routes. La Serena Airport is located less than 10 km from the La Serena city center. Therefore, the airport doesn’t have a shuttle bus but offers an official airport taxi service. The other option is to take a private transfer. The same goes for other nearby destinations such as Coquimbo and Ovalle.

Temuco Airport – IATA Code – ZCO

~ 1 million passenger

Temuco Airport or La Araucanía Airport is the main airport serving the region of Araucanía and the city of Temuco. The airport handles over a million passengers per year and primarily offers domestic routes. Airlines operating the airport are JetSmart, LATAM Chile and Sky Airline. Temuco city center is about 25 km from the airport, so getting there is possible by bus, taxi or a private transfer. Other nearby destinations include Villarrica, Pucon and Valdivia.

Chacalluta International Airport, as it is fully named, serves the city of Arica. The airport is located close to the Peru border and less than 20 km from Arica. It handles about 900.000 passengers per year and offers regional flights. Airlines at the airport include Amaszonas, LATAM, Sky Airline and JetSmart. The airport is close to National Park Lauca and National Park Volcan Isluga. Other nearby destinations include Tacna and Ilo District in Peru as well as Iquique in Chile.     Airport Code for the Santiago Chile airport is incorrect at the top of this page: https://getbybus.com/en/blog/airports-chile/

    It states that it is SLC, when it should be SCL. SLC is for Salt Lake City.
