Bratislava – Budapest
Between the Slovak capital Bratislava and Budapest in Hungary, there are several daily direct bus departures, the bus travel time for approximate 200 km long bus route is around 2.5 -3 hours depending on the travel route. Some bus companies offer trips with bus change in Vienna, but that does not really make sense for this short trip, so make sure to pick a bus which travels directly.
Currently more or less all buses from Bratislava to Budapest departure from the main bus station, located at Mlynské nivy street, but as some bus companies have started using other departure location, you should pay attention to this when buying your ticket. Getting to the main bus station from anywhere is Bratislava is possible with city bus.
When you travel from Budapest to Bratislava, you will have more departure location to choose between one being the main bus station other stops near by as we explained in our post about buses from Budapest to Vienna. Also here you should avoid the buses which has a bus change.
As alternative to the bus, you can also travel by train between the cities, but unless there is some kind of special offer available you will find that train is much more expensive than travelling by bus.
When travelling between Bratislava and Budapest, you will obviously have to cross the border between Slovakia and Hungary, so make sure you have the necessary document when boarding the bus.
