Budapest to Cluj Napoca
Between Budapest and Cluj (and from Cluj to Budapest) there are several daily direct buses operating all year around, the travel distance is about 420 km which equals a bus travel time of around 8 hours. Most of the buses travel the route via the Budapest airport, Szolnok and Puspokladany.
From Budapest all buses departure from the main bus station (Népliget Autobus Station), as the bus station is quite big it is advisable that you show up 30 minutes before departure so you have time to locate the bus. From Cluj most buses departure from the Fany bus terminal, which is located 600 metres from the main train station (Cluj Napoca), another way of easily finding the bus station is to look for Hotel Beta, which is located at the bus terminal, the terminal in Cluj i smaller than the one in Budapest, so if you arrive 15 minutes prior to departure you should have time enough to located your bus. Train from Budapest to Cluj Napoca
As alternative to travelling by bus, it is also possible to travel by train between the cities, train travel time range from 7 to 15 hours depending on travel route and number of changes. From a price perspective buses are mostly the cheaper option.
