Buses Novi Sad

Novi Sad is the second biggest town in Serbia and it is the administrative centre of Vojvodina (province) and Juzna Backa which is a part of Vojvodina. The town is located in the southern part of the Pannonian Basin, between the regions of Backa and Srem, on the banks of the Danube river.

Public transport

Novi Sad has a well developed public transport network which consists of 25 city lines, 19 suburban bus lines and 12 intercity lines. Public transport in Novi Sad is managed by the company Javno Gradsko Saobraćajno Preduzeće Novi Sad. Bus schedules are available here. Lines nr 3 and 9 connect the centre and the Petrovaradin Fortress, on the right bank of the Danube, which is inscribed on the UNESCO patrimony list.

Public transport tickets can be purchased at newspaper stands or from the driver. Ticket types available are single, daily and weekly.

A single ticket can be used only once during the ride and within the zone it is valid for. Tickets purchased at newspaper stands have to be used no later than 30 minutes after the purchase for the city transport and no later than 60 minutes for the suburban transport.

Daily tickets are valid for the day on which they are issued, from 0 to 24. There are two types of daily tickets:

• city transport tickets
• intercity transport tickets – valid only for the issued destinations and for the city bus lines

Weekly tickets can be used for an unlimited number of rides in zone 1 for seven consecutive days.

Bus station

Intercity bus station, MAS, can be found at 6 Bulevar Jase Tomica street. Here you can check it on the map. It is located next to the railway station, not far from the city centre but you can also reach it by bus nr 4 and 11.

Intercity transport

Novi Sad is well connected with other cities in Serbia, especially with Belgrade which is 80 km from Novi Sad. There are more than 100 bus departures in both directions between Belgrade and Novi Sad; almost every 30 minutes a bus departs from Novi Sad to Belgrade.

International transport

From Novi Sad you can frequently travel by bus to Zagreb, Vukovar, Osijek, Dubrovnik, Ljubljana, Budapest, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Vienna, Sofia as well as to Budva, Podgorica, Tivat, Kotor and Herceg Novi in Montenegro. Also, you can travel to Germany and Austria from Novi Sad.

Airport transport (Nikola Tesla Airport, Belgrade)

There is no airport in Novi Sad but since it is well connected with Belgrade it can also be reached by using Belgrade airport. Tourist buses

Lasta tourist agency organizes Novi Sad panoramic sightseeing tours. During August, the tours take place every Wednesday from 10 (am) and every Friday and Saturday from 19 o’clock. The sightseeing tours last for 45 minutes to 1 hour; tickets can be purchased on the bus or in Lasta branch office in Spens centre.
