Buses Pula

Pula is the biggest town on the Istrian peninsula; it has been the administrative centre of Pula since the Roman times. It is known for the antique buildings the most famous of which is the Roman Amphitheatre that is the Arena. The other two significant buildings are the Temple of Augustus and the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi. The town is also known for its mild climate, untouched nature and clean sea.

Public transport

You can go sightseeing in Pula either on foot or by bus; using a car is not recommended because the streets are narrow, there are usually traffic jams and a lack of parking spaces. The public transport in Pula is organized by the Pulapromet company. It has 34 buses, 8 of these are city lines and 5 of these cover the suburban areas. The bus schedule can be seen here.

However, there are three most important bus lines which connect the centre with the nearby tourist resorts and beaches:

  • line nr 1 which runs from the min bus station to Stoja
  • line nr 2 which runs from the main bus station to Verudela
  • line nr 3 which runs from Sijanska suma to Verudela

Public transport tickets

Tickets can be purchased from the driver and they are valid for an hour in one direction. If you plan on staying in Pula for several days and using the public transport you can buy a contactless ticket. When purchased for the first time it costs 70 kuna (30 kn for making it and 40 kn to use for bus rides). Once you spend it you can recharge it with 20, 40, 60 or 100 kuna. By using this ticket, the price of a single ticket is reduced for 7 kuna. Also, this ticket can be used by 5 people at the same time.

Bus station

The main bus station in Pula can be found at the address Trg 1. Istarske brigade; here you can see the exact location on the map. It is in the vicinity of the centre (1 km) and the Arena as well as the port and the railway station.

Intercity transport

International transport

Travelling by bus from Pula you can reach Ljubljana, Trieste, Munich, Sarajevo, Zurich, Venice and Graz.

There are more possibilities if you first travel to Rijeka where you can change a bus to your final destination.

Airport transfer

The address of Pula Airport is 21 Valtursko Polje, Liznjan, 7 km from the city itself. The airport can be reached by using shuttle bus services.

Tourist buses

Tourist sightseeing is available from 1 April till 30 September by the so called hop on hop off buses. During 24 hours it is possible to use this service from any of the bus stops. The bus leaves every day from the Arena from 10:00 till 18:00. The main stops are the Arena, Valkane-Stoja, Verudela Tourist Resort and Zlatne stijene Tourist Resort. A bus ticket costs 90 kuna for the adults, 45 kuna for children from 5 to 15 and the children under 5 can ride for free.

Luggage storage in Pula

Luggage storage in Pula can be found within the bus station building, the address is Trg 1. Istarske brigade. It works non stop and the price for storing luggage is 1.30 kuna/hour.
