Abraham Gonzalez International Airport, known simply as Ciudad Juarez Airport, serves Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 2019, the airport served over 1.5 million passengers. A year later – in 2020 – saw a drop of 51% percent in total traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The airport is relatively small, it has a single terminal and four gates. It  operates mostly domestic flights to other major cities in Mexico. Four airlines operate through the airport, with several non-stop and direct flights.

Getting from Ciudad Juarez Airport to Ciudad Juarez 

The distance between the airport and the city centre is 14 kilometres, which is approximately a 20-25 minute ride.

Bus 

There are currently no bus lines connecting the airport to the city center. 

Taxi 

Taking a taxi from the airport to the desired destination is one of the most frequent ways to get from one place to another when in a new city. It is especially convenient when getting off the airport, since there are many companies and drivers offering their services to passengers. 

Three taxi companies offer their services at the airport. Their working hours are from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m., and they only accept cash payments so make sure to have your pesos on you. Travellers can buy their taxi tickets at taxi kiosks, and the fares depend on zones and number of passengers. The fares begin at 60 MXN, but can be higher depending on where you’re headed and how many of you are travelling. 

However, if you prefer using something you are more familiar with, using the Uber rideshare service is also an option. 

Transfer 

Not everyone enjoys the hustle of looking for a taxi once they arrive at the airport and wish to be as comfortable as possible on their trips. If you are one of those people, pre-booking a private, door-to-door transfer is a great solution. A personal driver will be waiting for you at the airport to welcome you and take you to your desired destination stress-free, in privacy.

If you wish to explore the area on your own after you arrive, or just prefer being the one having control over the vehicle, consider renting a car during your stay. Eight different rent-a-car companies offer their services at Ciudad Juarez Airport, including several rent-a-car giants, some of which are Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. 

However, if you wish to avoid potential queues or for your car to already wait for you at the airport, we recommend booking a car online in advance. 

Bus rental 

Larger groups of passengers should consider renting a bus for a comfortable, hassle-free experience. However, it is recommended to book it online so the rental companies have enough time to advise you on the meeting point and other valuable information.
