Erasmus Cities in Germany

Germany is one of the most visited countries within the Erasmus program. Students who opt for such an experience can choose between more than 60 German destinations. However, the most popular universities include the Technical University of Munich, University of Münster and Humboldt University of Berlin. According to the latest data in 2019, 34 750 students experienced studying in Germany through hundreds of projects in higher education. There are so many reasons why Germany attracts international students, but all of them point to the fact that it’s totally worth it.

Why study in Germany?

Globally recognized degrees from world prominent universities are just some of the reasons why studying in Germany really pays off.

Germany is a country of beer, sausages and the most popular festival in the world – Oktoberfest! Countless casual pubs, theatres and an intense clubbing scene guarantee students great time off-campus.

Of course, Germany is much more than its nightlife. Great names like Bach or Beethoven, thousands of castles and palaces are a part of remarkable German history and culture. Therefore, students can discover German heritage in innumerable museums and sights all over the country.

Although the weather in Germany often happens to be grey and dull, the German climate is far from extreme weather conditions. Thus, it is possible to enjoy outdoor activities all year round. On the other hand, Germany is known for having the most ski resorts in Europe. Therefore, it would be a shame not to try winter sports during the visit.

Finally, depending on where you come from, Germany might or might not be expensive to you. That largely depends on the city you pick. Considering that students spend most of their budget on rent, we took the average price of the rent as our reference to determine the cost of living. According to Wohnung, we calculated that the average rent price per square meter ranges between €8-€10. Therefore, everything outside the range is classified either above or below average with indicated average rent price per square meter.

To help you choose your ideal destination, here is a list of all German Erasmus cities.
