Taxi
Just as anywhere else in the world, it is important to be mindful and take only the official taxi vehicles when travelling around, especially from the airport as that is where most scams happen.
Taxis in Peru don’t run on taxi meters, but rather on fixed prices, so it is important to always ask about the fare in advance. You may even try to negotiate the price with the driver, for which is when having at the very least basic Spanish speaking abilities may come in handy.
As for rideshare services, one must be aware of the fact that Uber is banned from operating at LIM.

Car hire
If you plan to explore the city and get around on your own, you might consider car hire. Car rental services available at the airport are Alamo, Avis, Hertz, Budget and International. However, if you wish to save time and avoid long queues, we recommend renting a car online.
